The Perfect Moveset for Maximum Damage

Pidgeot shines as a special attacker, especially after Mega Evolution boosts its Special Attack to an impressive 135. Here’s your winning combination:

Hurricane serves as your primary weapon—the strongest Flying-type STAB move Pidgeot learns at level 45. This devastating attack becomes your go-to choice for heavy damage output.

Air Slash provides reliable backup when Hurricane enters cooldown. Learned at level 33, this move maintains offensive pressure between your heavy hits.

Heat Wave covers Pidgeot’s Ice-type weakness while obliterating Steel and Bug types. Unlock this crucial coverage move through TM068 by completing Mable’s research tasks at level 28.

Quick Attack finishes weakened opponents before they can respond. This priority STAB move ensures you close out battles efficiently.

Why Timid Nature Dominates

The Timid nature is non-negotiable for competitive Pidgeot builds. By boosting Speed while reducing Attack (which Pidgeot never uses), you maximize everything that makes Mega Pidgeot exceptional.

In Legends Z-A’s unique battle system, Speed directly correlates with move cooldown times. Higher Speed means using your devastating moves more frequently—a game-changer for special attackers.

Purchase a Timid Mint from vendors in Vert Sector 6 if you’ve already caught your Pidgeot. This allows nature optimization at any progression stage.

Stat Breakdown: Regular vs. Mega Evolution

Understanding the transformation helps appreciate Mega Pidgeot’s power:

Base Pidgeot Stats:

Special Attack: 70 (decent but unimpressive)
Speed: 101 (respectable)
Bulk: Average across the board

Mega Pidgeot Stats:

Special Attack: 135 (+65 boost!)
Speed: 121 (+20 boost!)
Improved defenses: 80 across Defense and Special Defense

According to The Pokemon Company’s official site, Mega Evolution fundamentally changes Pidgeot’s role from mediocre mid-game filler to late-game sweeper.

Getting Your Pidgeot and Pidgeotite

Catching Pidgey early is straightforward—Wild Zone 1 features frequent spawns, with additional appearances throughout Bleu, Jaune, Magenta, Rouge, and Vert Districts. Evolve it twice (level 18 for Pidgeotto, level 36 for Pidgeot) for your final form.

The crucial Pidgeotite Mega Stone requires 180 Mega Shards from Quasartico Inc. Farm these through battles and exploration to unlock Mega Evolution’s full potential.

Battle Strategy: Maximizing Your Mega Bird

Open with Mega Evolution immediately to leverage the massive stat boosts. Lead with Hurricane against neutral targets, switching to Heat Wave when facing Ice, Steel, or Bug types. Use Air Slash during Hurricane cooldown to maintain pressure.

Quick Attack becomes clutch for securing KOs when opponents sit at low HP. The priority ensures you strike first, preventing potential comebacks.

Your high Speed stat means faster cooldowns, enabling relentless offensive pressure that overwhelms defensive strategies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Pidgeot worth using in Pokemon Legends Z-A compared to other Flying-types?

Absolutely, but primarily for its Mega Evolution. Regular Pidgeot remains average, but Mega Pidgeot’s 135 Special Attack and 121 Speed make it one of the best special sweepers available. Unlike other Flying-types, it’s accessible early and becomes competitively viable through Mega Evolution, offering great value for team investment.

When should I Mega Evolve my Pidgeot during battles in Legends Z-A?

Mega Evolve immediately at battle start to maximize the stat boost duration. The transformation doesn’t consume your turn in Legends Z-A’s system, making it a free power spike. The enhanced Speed reduces move cooldowns instantly, while the Special Attack boost transforms your damage output from the first move onward. Delaying Mega Evolution wastes these critical advantages.
