Transfer market 2022 round-up: Top deals done so far

The transfer window is fully underway, and clubs across Europe have already spent over a billion Euros on signings. Of that, the Premier League has spent almost half a billion in incoming transfers alone, showcasing their financial power from the top to bottom. 

Manchester United and Chelsea are yet to make their first signing of the summer, and will only boost the amount that Premier League sides are spending this window. Arsenal’s imminent confirmation of Gabriel Jesus will also push up their spending to the most of all the clubs in Europe.

Here are the top five leagues in Europe and their spending in the transfer market so far: 

  • PREMIER LEAGUE: 448.49 million euros (37.11 percent)
  • SERIE A: 284.388 million euros (23.53 percent)
  • BUNDESLIGA: 218.68 million euros (18.09 percent)
  • LALIGA: 141.80 million euros (11.73 percent)
  • LIGUE 1: 115.15 million euros (9.52 percent)
  • TOTAL SPENDING: 1,208 million euros

  4. Leeds United: €57.84m
  5. Borussia Dortmund: €55m
  6. Aston Villa: €54.50m
  7. Bayern Munich: €50.50m
  8. Arsenal: €44.86m
  9. Marseille: €43.40m
  10. Atalanta: €42m

Transfer market roundup 27 June 2022 

The most expensive signing of the summer so far is Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid. The midfielder has been signed for €80 million upfront with €20 million available in add-ons later. Darwin Nunez is next on the list, joining Liverpool for €75 million. 

Erling Haaland remains the most prolific transfer of the summer so far, joining Manchester City in the end for a bargain €60 million. La Liga and Ligue 1 have refrained from spending too much, while the Italian clubs are enjoying a resurgence. 

Federico Chiesa’s permanent move from Fiorentina to Juventus for €40 million remains the most expensive signing in Italy so far. Romelu Lukaku is also expected to be announced as a loan arrival next week, with an €8 million loan fee agreed with Chelsea.

The transfer market will be open for the next few months, and we will see a number of important deals take place as the months go by.
