Tom Hardy’s MobLand Exit Rumours: Why the Door Is Still Open and Helen Mirren Is Standing Right Behind It

If you’ve been following the MobLand drama off-screen, you know it’s almost as gripping as the show itself. Reports about Tom Hardy being dropped from the hit crime series sent fans into a spiral — but here’s the thing: the full story is a lot more nuanced than the headlines suggest.

What’s Actually Going On Between Tom Hardy and MobLand?

According to Variety, Tom Hardy remains attached to the project for now, with sources indicating that conversations are ongoing about his possible return for Season 3. A source close to production told the outlet that Hardy was not fired and the door is not closed.

So where did the fire-and-fury headlines come from? A report from Puck News alleged that Hardy was frequently late during Season 2 filming, often gave script notes, altered dialogue, and expressed frustration over the ensemble nature of the cast. Reports also claimed he sometimes refused to leave his trailer for hours, frustrating co-stars and delaying filming schedules.

Tom Hardy Key Facts

Guy Ritchie Is Reportedly in Hardy’s Corner

Filmmaker Guy Ritchie, who executive-produced and directed several episodes across the first two seasons, is believed to be advocating for Hardy to remain involved. A production source said that Ritchie likes working with Hardy and is likely pushing to make things work.

That’s a significant detail. When the director is backing the lead, negotiations tend to find a way forward.

Helen Mirren’s Public Show of Loyalty

Perhaps the most touching subplot in all of this? Co-star Helen Mirren, who portrays Maeve Harrigan in the series, posted a photo of Hardy on Instagram alongside the message: “Love you now and always,” signing it simply as “Helen.” A quiet but powerful statement from an Oscar winner who clearly isn’t ready to say goodbye to her on-screen partner.

Tom Hardy has long been known for his intense, immersive approach to every role — and MobLand is no exception. He plays mob fixer Harry Da Souza alongside Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan in a series that debuted in March 2025 and quickly became a talking point across the globe.
