Thudakkam Release Date Confirmed: Vismaya Mohanlal’s Debut Thriller Streams This September

Some debuts arrive quietly. This one didn’t have that luxury. Stepping into cinema as Mohanlal’s daughter means every frame gets watched a little closer — and Thudakkam has spent five weeks proving it can hold that spotlight on its own terms.

After a solid theatrical run, the film is heading to streaming, and fans who missed it in cinemas finally have a date to circle.

Thudakkam Release Date: Key Details

Here’s the one thing everyone’s searching for — the thudakkam release date is locked in.

What’s the Film About?

Thudakkam — meaning “The Beginning” — follows Meenu (Vismaya Mohanlal), a young woman preparing for a bank exam while caring for her physically challenged father, Ravi (Sai Kumar). What starts as an ordinary domestic setup gradually spirals into a tense survival thriller, with Ashish Joe Antony playing the antagonist opposite her.

The title fits well, too — this really is a beginning. It’s Vismaya’s first film, following her brother Pranav Mohanlal, who stepped into acting a few years earlier.

Why This Release Matters?

Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, who last delivered the blockbuster 2018, Thudakkam had a lot riding on it — and it delivered. The film crossed the ₹40 crore mark globally during its theatrical run, according to The Week, earning solid word-of-mouth for both Vismaya and Ashish Joe Antony’s performances.

Add in Mohanlal’s extended cameo, music by Jakes Bejoy, and cinematography by Jomon T. John and Akhil George, and it’s easy to see why this one built genuine buzz beyond just the star-kid angle.
