Thiago Silva in no rush to commit to Chelsea future

Thiago Silva has been an absolutely game-changing addition to the Chelsea squad, having joined the Londoners from Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent after seeing out his contract with the French Champions.

The Brazilian joined on an initial one-year deal with the Blues and has an option of increasing his tenure at the club for another year. The player’s agent and Chelsea are in contact regarding the extension in contract, and are reportedly under no pressure and are in no hurry to seal the deal quickly.

While the final decision rests with the player, we would not be left surprised if he does indeed extend his stay in London by another year. Although he is currently out with a thigh injury that the defender sustained in Chelsea’s win against Tottenham in the London Derby, he is expected to return in time for their game against Southampton.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move back to his home country in recent times, with the rumours gaining heavy traction during the January transfer window.

However, for the time being, Silva is reunited with his PSG coach Thomas Tuchel, and both of them have immense mutual respect between each other. Tuchel considers the centre-back as an essential member and leader of the Chelsea squad and will do everything to keep him at the club for as long as possible.
