Just when it looked like Netflix had quietly forgotten about 657 Boulevard, the house is open for business again. The Watcher season 2 is gearing up for production this fall in New York, and the latest casting news is exactly the kind of twist fans were hoping for.

Karen Is Back
Netflix has confirmed that Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jennifer Coolidge will reprise her role as Karen Calhoun, the opportunistic real estate agent who sold the Brannock family their dream home and then watched it turn into a nightmare.
Why does it matter? Of all the season 1 characters, Karen arguably had the most unfinished business. After talking the Brannocks into overpaying for the house, she ended the season owning it herself, and on the receiving end of the same paranoia she had profited from.
Coolidge seemed keen to revisit the character. Shortly after the renewal, she told Entertainment Weekly that she thought Karen deserved to face consequences for her actions in season 1. Four years on, it looks like she may finally get that chance.
Who’s Returning So Far?
Coolidge joins four stars confirmed only days earlier:
- Naomi Watts as Nora Brannock (she is now also an executive producer)
- Bobby Cannavale as Dean Brannock
- Margo Martindale as Maureen “Mo”
- Isabel Gravitt as Ellie Brannock
There is no word yet on other season 1 favourites, such as Mia Farrow, Richard Kind and Christopher McDonald, and no new additions have been announced.
A Long Road to Season 2
This is quite a turnaround. Netflix ordered a second season back in November 2022, but then things went quiet, and Ryan Murphy later confirmed it would not arrive in 2024. Earlier this month, reports suggested the show was finally moving forward, and within 24 hours Netflix confirmed the Brannocks were returning. That also ends any theory that season 2 would become an anthology with a brand-new family and house.
Coolidge’s profile has only grown since we last saw her in Westfield. She won Emmys and a Golden Globe for The White Lotus and appeared in A Minecraft Movie, so landing her is a real coup.
The series is created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, with Brennan as showrunner. Crystle Roberson Dorsey directs and executive produces. It is based on Reeves Wiedeman’s New York Magazine article, The Haunting of a Dream House.
What We Still Don’t Know?
Netflix has not shared a season 2 logline or a release date, so the plot remains a mystery. Will the Brannocks face a new threat, or will the old one return? We will update this post as soon as more details arrive.
