The Walking Dead: Netflix Locks Down The Entire Walking Dead Universe Till 2032

Just when fans thought The Walking Dead might shuffle off Netflix in 2027, the platform did the opposite — it doubled down. A new deal with AMC doesn’t just save the original series; it brings the whole zombie universe home in one place.

The Big Announcement

Netflix and AMC Global Media have signed a landmark, multi-year agreement worth $500 million that keeps The Walking Dead on Netflix through 2032 and adds all six spin-off series to the platform globally starting in 2027. Combined, the franchise adds up to a massive 371 episodes.

The deal is co-exclusive, meaning the original series will also stream on AMC+ for the first time early next year — but Netflix keeps its front-row seat as the show’s long-time streaming home.

What’s Changing, At a Glance

The Spin-Offs Joining the Fold

Starting in 2027, Netflix becomes the global home for:

• Fear the Walking Dead
• The Walking Dead: Dead City
• The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live
• The Walking Dead: World Beyond
• Tales of the Walking Dead
• The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon

Rollout timing will vary slightly by region depending on when existing local licenses expire.

Why Netflix Is Betting Big on Zombies

The math backs up the investment. According to engagement data cited in the announcement, the franchise has pulled in nearly 3.9 billion viewing hours and over 345 million views in recent years — despite not even being available everywhere yet. Executives from both companies called it a win for building one unified global destination for the franchise, a strategy increasingly common across the streaming television industry as platforms consolidate IP rather than split it across licenses.

The Bottom Line

This isn’t just a renewal — it’s a full-scale consolidation. Every walker, every spin-off, one platform. For fans who’ve been piecing together the universe across services for years, 2027 finally brings it all under one roof.
