The Trap: Overview

What Is The Trap About?

Lisa Konrad is a beloved author who hasn’t left her home in over ten years, ever since she witnessed the murder of her sister, Anna. Then one day she believes she recognizes the killer on television. Rather than stay hidden, she does the unthinkable and steps outside to set a trap for her sister’s murderer, using herself as the bait.

Who Is in the Cast?

Friederike Becht leads as Lisa. She’s known for films like Labyrinth of Lies and The Reader, and this is her first Netflix Original. She’s joined by Hans Löw, who plays journalist Robert Lenzen and will be familiar to viewers of Netflix’s Dear Child and the film Toni Erdmann.

The supporting cast includes Matthias Brandt as Norbert Rudow, Miriam Ohlmeyer as Sophie, Josephine Thiesen as Lisa’s sister Anna, and Malaya Stern Takeda as Lisa’s assistant Yuma. Anna Schudt and Michael Klammer round out the ensemble.

Where Was It Filmed?

Production took place in Düsseldorf, with additional filming in Cologne. The series then spent several months in post-production before Netflix locked in its October date. An official trailer is already on Netflix’s YouTube channel if you’d like a taste.

Should You Add It to Your List?

If you enjoy slow-burn mysteries with a strong hook, absolutely. A character who has hidden from the world for a decade and now hunts a killer from the inside out is a gripping premise.
