What to Expect in Episode 10 🔮

According to the official synopsis, Nolan, Harper, and Miles face a dangerous situation when a routine check takes a sudden and dramatic turn — while Bailey conducts a covert investigation at the Pentagon at the request of Lt. Grey.

The preview suggests that the routine check involves a wellness call to the abandoned Westview Hospital, which shut down the previous year — and when the team arrives, they immediately notice something deeply disturbing. Reports indicate the episode takes The Rookie into surprisingly supernatural territory — zombie-like patients roaming the halls of an abandoned building — giving the show’s procedural formula a genuinely thrilling horror-adjacent twist.

Meanwhile, Bailey — who has often been an underutilised part of the ensemble — finally gets a shining storyline of her own, conducting covert Pentagon work that could significantly expand her role in the second half of the season.

What Happened in Episode 9 — A Quick Recap 📋

The previous episode, “Fun and Games,” delivered one of Season 8’s most emotional beats — Sergeant Wade Grey discovered that his wife Luna had developed feelings for another man. Although Luna insisted nothing physical had happened, Grey was deeply shaken and left home, calling Nolan from a hotel bar admitting he didn’t know what the future of his marriage looked like. Elsewhere, Nyla Harper returned to patrol duty following her demotion from detective, and was paired with rookie Miles Penn — using a unique role-reversal strategy where she asked him to be her training officer for the day. The duo successfully solved a bank heist, hinting at a compelling new partnership dynamic. The Statesman

The emotional fallout from Grey’s marriage crisis and Nyla’s reinvention arc are both expected to carry forward into Episode 10 in a big way.

The Rookie premiered in October 2018 on ABC and has now aired over 135 episodes across eight seasons — a testament to the staying power of Nathan Fillion and creator Alexi Hawley’s endlessly entertaining procedural universe.
