Frank Castle Returns — And He Means Business
The Punisher: One Last Kill sees Frank Castle try to live a life without the need for revenge, only to be drawn into an unexpected conflict. Sound familiar? That’s the Punisher’s eternal curse — and fans wouldn’t have it any other way.
The trailer shows Bernthal getting set on fire while experiencing hallucinations, with the story seemingly centered on another bloody revenge mission. No capes, no cosmic drama. Just Frank, his guns, and his ghosts.
18 Years in the Making — For Real
This isn’t just another Marvel project greenlit by committee. Bernthal said he did not want Marvel to “just hand it to me,” adding that he wanted to earn every step of the process and make it the version “this character deserves.”
He described the special as the most “high-octane” portrayal of the character yet — “visceral, psychologically complex, unforgiving, no-holds-barred” — where all violence carries a cost and nothing comes easy.
To prepare, Bernthal brought in former Marine Raider Nick Koumalatsos as a consultant on the special. This is as close to the real thing as Marvel has ever attempted.
Where It Fits in the MCU
The Punisher last appeared at the end of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, where he escaped after being taken prisoner by Wilson Fisk. He won’t appear in Season 2, making One Last Kill his next MCU outing before Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The special is expected to act as a narrative bridge between Daredevil: Born Again and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, connecting key storylines within the broader MCU.
Rumours suggest the special could introduce Ma Gnucci, one of Frank’s iconic comic book villains, with filming location signs spotted for “Gnucci’s Family Restaurant” near Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.

The Team Behind It
Director Reinaldo Marcus Green previously worked with Bernthal on King Richard (2021) and We Own This City (2022) — making this a reunion grounded in genuine creative trust. Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum serve as executive producers.
