What’s the Story?
The official synopsis reads: “As Frank Castle searches for meaning beyond revenge, an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight.”
The special will center on Frank Castle trying to move on from being The Punisher, but being drawn back into a conflict. It is unclear how the events will tie into where audiences last saw Frank Castle at the end of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, breaking out of Wilson Fisk’s vigilante prison.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has suggested that nobody has seen Frank Castle since the events of Season 1, hinting that One Last Kill will explain his absence and why Frank Castle stopped being The Punisher at a moment when he was needed most. MovieWeb
Bernthal’s Vision — No Punisher-Lite Here
Bernthal said the special would be a “version that this character deserves” and not “Punisher-lite”, adding it has the most “high-octane” portrayal of the character yet seen — a “visceral, psychologically complex, unforgiving, no-holds-barred version of Frank where nothing is easy and all violence has a cost.” Wikipedia

The back-to-back releases of Daredevil: Born Again, The Punisher: One Last Kill, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day will tell an epic street-level story leading into the multiversal crossover Avengers: Doomsday.
