The Perfect Lie: Meet the Cast Behind Netflix’s Twisty Dutch Thriller of Friendship and Betrayal

Few shows this year have made “dinner club” sound this dangerous. The Perfect Lie, Netflix’s gripping Dutch thriller, dropped on September 10, 2026, and pulls viewers into a web of secrets among a close friend group where nobody is quite who they seem.

What The Perfect Lie Is About

Adapted from Saskia Noort’s novel De Eetclub, the series follows Karen (Loes Haverkort), who relocates with her family to the affluent coastal town of Bergen and is welcomed into a tight social circle through her old friend Hanneke. What starts as an idyllic new chapter quickly unravels after a fire kills one member of the group, exposing layers of infidelity, hidden wealth, and long-buried resentment among the friends.

The Perfect Lie: Overview

Meet the Core Characters

Karen, the newcomer at the center of the story, is suspended from her high-powered media job while adjusting to her new social circle, even as tensions with her friends quietly build. Her husband Michel (Teun Luijkx) plays the steady, faithful counterpart to the group’s more reckless members, including Simon (Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuzyen), whose wandering eye creates early friction. Simon’s wife Patricia (Charlie Chan Dagelet) hides her own secrets behind inherited wealth, while Hanneke (Rifka Lodeizen) emerges as the group’s most determined truth-seeker after tragedy strikes. Rounding out the ensemble are Ivo (Remko Vrijdag), whose marriage to Hanneke is quietly falling apart, and Babette (Noortje Herlaar), whose husband Evert’s (Edwin Jonker) death in the season’s opening moments sets the entire mystery into motion.
