The Kitchen Is Closing: The Bear Season 5 Sets June 25 Premiere — Everything You Need to Know About the Final Season

Say it with us one last time: Yes, Chef. FX has officially confirmed that The Bear Season 5 — premiering June 25, 2026 — will be the show’s final season. After four extraordinary, Emmy-sweeping years, one of the most intense, beloved shows on television is closing its doors for good. Here’s everything you need to know before the last service begins.

The Bear : Key Details at a Glance

What Happens in Season 5?

Season 5 picks up the morning after Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Natalie “Sugar” (Abby Elliott) discover that Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) has quit the food industry — leaving the restaurant entirely in their hands.

With no money, the threat of a sale, and a torrential storm bearing down on them, the new partners must band together with their team for one last service — hoping to finally earn that elusive Michelin star. The season’s emotional core, per FX, is the realisation that what makes a restaurant “perfect” might not be the food, but the people.

The “Gary” Prequel: Your Perfect Appetiser

Just one day before the Season 5 announcement, FX dropped a secretly filmed standalone episode titled “Gary” — a prequel following Richie and Mikey (Jon Bernthal) on a work trip before the events of Season 1. Co-written by Moss-Bachrach and Bernthal, directed by Storer, it’s available on Hulu by searching “Gary” directly — it’s not on The Bear‘s main page. Think of it as the emotional bridge into the finale.

Why This Show Is a TV Landmark

Since its 2022 debut, The Bear has won 21 Emmy Awards — including Outstanding Comedy Series in 2023 — along with 5 Golden Globes and recognition from the Critics Choice Awards, Writers Guild, Directors Guild, and more. As noted in its Wikipedia entry, the show redefined what television drama could look and feel like: claustrophobic, kinetic, deeply human.

Season 4 is currently in contention at this year’s Emmys. Season 5 will be eligible in 2027 — a potential final send-off at awards season.
