“The Intern” Korean Remake: 37 Years of Experience, Zero Idea How to Use the Coffee Machine

Some things transcend language and culture — like the universal awkwardness of being the oldest person in the room on your first day of work. “The Intern,” the Korean remake of the beloved Hollywood film, just dropped new stills, and the chemistry between Choi Min Sik and Han So Hee is already stealing the spotlight.

The Setup: A CEO and Her Unlikely Intern

The story follows Gi Ho (Choi Min Sik), a senior intern with a staggering 37 years of work experience, who joins fashion startup Wootutu — a company rapidly gaining industry buzz just three years after launch, led by its workaholic young CEO, Sun Woo (Han So Hee). It’s a clash of generations, work styles, and completely different definitions of “office culture,” and the new stills capture that tension with a lot of heart.

What the New Stills Show

The first images show Gi Ho sitting stiffly in an unfamiliar office, employee ID card around his neck, looking every bit as nervous as a fresh graduate despite decades of experience. That fish-out-of-water energy continues in his interaction with Min Ah (Ryu Hye Young), head of management support — Gi Ho stands almost nervously before her, flipping the usual senior-junior dynamic on its head in a genuinely funny visual gag.

Elsewhere, Gi Ho is shown with a more determined expression alongside Vice CEO Young Hwan (Kim Jun Han), hinting at how he’ll eventually put his decades of expertise to real use inside Wootutu’s famously free-spirited work culture.

Meanwhile, Sun Woo is seen persuading exclusive model Baek Ru Da (Han Ji Eun) at a photo shoot, with visible tension between the two — a small preview of the many company dramas still to unfold.

The most telling stills, though, come later: Gi Ho assigned as Sun Woo’s personal intern-slash-driver, seated up front while she rides in the back — followed by images of the two eventually sitting side by side, sharing quiet, genuine smiles that hint at a friendship growing well beyond job titles or age gaps.

The Intern: Overview

Why This Remake Has Potential

The original The Intern worked because it balanced comedy with genuine emotional warmth between its two leads — and based on these stills, the Korean version seems to be leaning into that same strength. Choi Min Sik’s gravitas paired with Han So Hee’s magnetic screen presence gives the remake a strong foundation, and the generational-gap humor translates surprisingly well into a Korean corporate setting.
