The Great Bang Ok Sook: Jeon Do Yeon and Park Hae Soo Reunite for tvN’s Wildest Real Estate War Yet

Redevelopment battles don’t usually sound like prestige drama material. But give it a stacked cast, a “gentle gangster,” and a woman fighting to protect her Han River view, and suddenly it’s one of 2027’s most anticipated Korean dramas.

tvN has confirmed the full cast for its upcoming series The Great Bang Ok Sook (literal translation), and it’s already generating buzz for one simple reason: it reunites two acclaimed actors in a story that turns apartment politics into all-out warfare.

The Great Bang Ok Sook: Key Details

What’s the Story?

The drama centers on a battle for survival between two very different kinds of “gangsters.” On one side is a fiercely protective apartment residents’ association, deeply invested in defending their property values. On the other is a redevelopment association chairman who’s just as committed to tearing that world down — literally.

Jeon Do Yeon plays Bang Ok Sook, the power broker of the Noble Gold Castle residents’ association and the driving force behind its campaign to block redevelopment. Bang Ok Sook worked hard for years to finally buy her Han River-view apartment, and when nearby redevelopment plans threaten to shake up local housing prices, she takes matters into her own hands to protect what she’s built.

Standing directly in her way is Park Hae Soo’s Yoon Tae Woong, the redevelopment association chairman described as a “gentle gangster” — a man surrounded by rumors, but backed by a genuinely spotless track record: a 100% success rate on redevelopment projects. He wastes no time turning a stalled decade-old redevelopment plan into a real, imminent threat to Bang Ok Sook’s world.

A Reunion Worth Watching

This isn’t the first time Jeon Do Yeon and Park Hae Soo have shared the screen — the two previously worked together in The Price of Confession, and their reunion here as opposing forces in a high-stakes property war is already one of the drama’s biggest selling points for fans of both actors.

Meet the Rest of the Residents’ Association

The supporting cast rounds out the residents’ association with distinct, colorful characters. Kim Sun Young plays Lee Ho Young, who develops a quiet rivalry with Bang Ok Sook herself, while Kim Geum Soon takes on the role of the association’s chairwoman, Yoon Ji Ae. Kim Guk Hee plays Oh Ji Hee, a self-proclaimed investment expert with an unfortunate habit of losing money, and Woo Jeong Won plays Do Do Hee, someone who appears indifferent on the surface but is secretly devoted to the cause. Gong Sung Ha rounds things out as Kim Ye Ri, a social media influencer, while Baek Hyun Jin plays Koo Myung Hwan, a social affairs journalist and Lee Ho Young’s husband, who lends his support to the residents’ fight.

Why This Premise Works

Housing prices and redevelopment might sound like dry subject matter, but framing it as a gangster-style turf war — complete with sharply drawn characters and comedic undertones — gives The Great Bang Ok Sook room to be both a satire of real estate anxiety and a genuinely entertaining ensemble drama. With a director known for stylish period drama and a writer behind a tense, acclaimed thriller, expect the tone to balance dark comedy with real dramatic stakes.
