Downton Abbey’s creator Julian Fellowes has developed a new TV show for HBO called The Gilded Age. The new show of HBO, The Gilded Age’s (season 1) backdrop is 1882, the time of great economic and technological transformation in the United States of America and also draws light in the class system in that country in the late 19th Century with new found money and cut-throat competition among the industrialists.
The story is about Marian Brook who’s compelled to shift from Pennsylvania to New York after the death of her father. In New York, she is supposed to reside along with her wealthy aunts Agnes van Rhijn and Ada Brook. Along with her new friend, Peggy Scott, Marian gets involved in a dispute between her and their wealthy, railroad tycoon neighbours George and Bertha Russell.
The Gilded Age Season 1 is going to release in the United States on HBO on January 24 and in the UK on Sky Atlantic and the OTT platform NOW the very next day.
The star cast of the show includes Louisa Jacobson (Marian Brooke), Cynthia Nixon (Ada Brook) and Christine Baranski (Agnes van Rhijn).
Kelli O’Hara gets into the skin of Aurora Fane, Agnes van Rhijn’s niece, while Denee Benton appears as Marian’s friend Peggy Scott.
The show is going to feature other big names like Carrie Coon (Bertha Russell), Morgan Spector (George Russell), Taissa Fermiga (Gladys Russell) and Harry Richardson (Larry Russell).
