What Is The Gardener Netflix About?

The Gardener tells the story of Elmer and his controlling mother, La China Jurado, manager of a garden centre that hides another thriving underground murder-for-hire business. Killing is easy for Elmer — an accident had left him emotionless. However, while planning the murder of Violeta, a charming nursery school teacher, he falls in love with her. Now, Elmer must learn to love while his mother does everything possible to end Violeta’s life. Netflix

It’s a premise so darkly original that it’s hard to look away. A hitman who literally cannot feel — suddenly undone by the very woman he’s been paid to kill. And a mother so possessively controlling she’d rather see her son’s new love dead than accept losing her grip on him. Cecilia Suárez plays La China Jurado. She starred in the popular Spanish Netflix series The House of Flowers, Someone Has to Die, and Holy Family. Netflix As one of Spain’s most beloved TV actresses, her casting as the manipulative, dangerous matriarch is inspired — she brings warmth and menace in equal measure.
