The First Descendant Teases Hover Bikes in New Update in 2025

Nexon has officially teased a brand-new feature for The First Descendant in its latest “Breakthrough Update” trailer—hover bikes. The teaser offers an exciting first look at this high-tech vehicle, giving players a glimpse into how traversal and gameplay dynamics may soon evolve within the world of the co-op looter-shooter.

The First Descendant Breakthrough Update Teases Hover Bikes for Faster Exploration and Gameplay Evolution

The teaser video is brief, but shows a cool-looking, futuristic hover bike speeding through large landscapes. Although it doesn’t open up the entire move set or combat capabilities of the hover bike, it does frame mobility as a key part of this vehicle, along with its role as a method of transit. With all the verticality and expansive open spaces already available in First Descendant, this new means of getting around could further increase the freedom of exploration and mission progression.

The addition of hover bikes also suggests content that goes far beyond basic transportation. There could even be bike missions, races, or chases that are exclusive to the game. The teaser presents bright light, quick speed, and fluttering hover functionality, all running in that sweet Unreal Engine 5 goodness.

Nexon hasn’t revealed whether players will unlock hover bikes via progression, in-game money, or microtransactions, but the teaser suggests the vehicles will benefit from some level of customization, like paint jobs or equipment upgrades. This allows for new customization and evolution.

The Breakthrough Update looks ready to saturate the player experience with more than just new vehicles. Full patch notes are still to come, but it’s believed that this patch will feature performance upgrades, quality-of-life improvements, and new Descendants or foes.

Hover bikes could represent a larger change in how Nexon considers traversal and mission construction in The First Descendant, autistically wringing their hands over more feedback concerning movement and map scale. More information, including a release timeline and detailed update notes, is likely on the horizon as excitement builds around this next major content drop.
