The Dead Walk Again: Revival Finds a Second Life on Netflix

A small Wisconsin town where the dead simply… come back. No groaning, no shuffling — just ordinary people picking up right where they left off. That’s the eerie hook behind “Revival,” and this August, it’s finally getting the streaming spotlight it deserves.

Revival : Key Details

What the Show Is About

“Revival” follows Dana Cypress, a struggling small-town police officer and single mother, after a strange event brings the recently deceased back to life in her rural Wisconsin community. These aren’t the shuffling undead of typical horror fare — the revived look, talk, and act exactly as they did before. When one of them turns out to be a murder victim who’s now walking around very much alive, Dana finds herself investigating a case where absolutely everyone, living or revived, could be a suspect.

The series is based on the acclaimed Image Comics series by writer Tim Seeley and artist Mike Norton, and stars Melanie Scrofano, best known to genre fans from “Wynonna Earp,” alongside Romy Weltman, David James Elliott, and Andy McQueen.

Why Netflix Picked It Up

This move continues a pattern that’s worked well for both companies. Netflix has increasingly licensed titles from NBCUniversal’s networks, and shows like “Suits” and “Resident Alien” saw major viewership spikes after landing on the platform. “Revival” is the next title getting that same treatment, with the full first season dropping all at once for easy bingeing.

Will It Get a Season 2?

Here’s the bittersweet part: since its season one finale aired in mid-2025, Syfy has stayed quiet about a second season, leaving fans worried it may have been quietly shelved as the network shifts away from scripted programming. A strong showing on Netflix’s top 10 charts this August could be exactly what the show needs to convince someone — whether Syfy or Netflix itself — to bring it back.
