What Is The Cleaning Lady About?
At its core, this is a show about a mother doing whatever it takes to save her child — and that premise hits differently every single episode. Elodie Yung, best known internationally as Elektra in Netflix’s Daredevil, plays Thony De La Rosa, a highly skilled Cambodian-Filipino doctor who travels to the US for treatment to save her critically ill son.
When the system fails her and she’s left with no legal options, Thony stumbles into the orbit of organised crime — and ends up cleaning their crime scenes instead of an operating room. What follows is a relentlessly tense, emotionally layered thriller that somehow keeps topping itself season after season.
The series was notably one of the first primetime American dramas to feature a DACA-status protagonist, giving it a cultural weight beyond just the crime-thriller genre.

Why Netflix Is Getting It Now
This international licensing deal is tied to the broader Warner Bros. Television content distribution wave. The show is still streaming on HBO Max and Hulu in the US, so American viewers won’t find it on Netflix — but for everyone in Canada, the UK, Australia, and potentially more regions soon, April 1 is your day.
