The Cape Returns: The Batman Part II Finally Gets Its Date With Destiny

Gotham fans, the wait finally has an end date. Director Matt Reeves has confirmed that The Batman: Part II will swoop into theatres on February 18, 2028 — and he didn’t leave fans empty-handed, dropping a fresh camera-test glimpse of Robert Pattinson back in the cowl, hinting at an even darker chapter ahead.

The Batman Part II: Overview

What’s the Sequel About?

The 2022 original drew from beloved comic arcs like Year One and The Long Halloween, following a young Batman untangling corruption and the Riddler’s schemes while confronting secrets about his father, Thomas Wayne. Part II picks up in Gotham’s aftermath of a devastating flood, with Batman diving into fresh mysteries during a bleak winter setting.

While the studio hasn’t locked in character details, buzz suggests Sebastian Stan may step into the role of Victor Zsasz, while Scarlett Johansson is rumored to be taking on Poison Ivy — casting choices that would add real weight to an already stacked ensemble.

Batman’s Busy Schedule Before 2028

Before he returns to Gotham, Robert Pattinson has another big stop: Christopher Nolan’s mythological epic The Odyssey, where he plays Antinous alongside Matt Damon’s Odysseus, Tom Holland, and Anne Hathaway. That film releases worldwide on July 17, 2026 — giving fans plenty to watch while the countdown to Gotham continues.
