The Blue Road Teaser Out: Son Suk Ku and Nagayama Eita Chase a Serial Killer Across Korea and Japan

Two cities, two languages, one killer. Netflix has released a new poster and teaser for The Blue Road, and the chilling first look has already got crime-thriller fans talking.

The Blue Road: Overview

What Is The Blue Road About?

The story follows two detectives tracking a string of murders that occur across both Korea and Japan. Son Suk Ku plays Kim Seok, a detective with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Mobile Investigation Unit. Nagayama Eita plays Inose, a detective with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigation Division. They have contrasting personalities and investigative styles, yet a recurring case that crosses borders ties their paths together.

The Poster’s Chilling Clues

The poster places Kim Seok and Inose in the back alleys of Korea and Japan, with mysterious messages written in both languages behind them. Those messages, along with victims found with twisted limbs, are the key clues linking the serial murders.

The Blue Road: Inside the Teaser

The teaser uses rapid cross-cutting to show both detectives working their cases in different countries. Phrases in Korean and Japanese, written in victims’ blood, appear at the scenes, and the pair realise the crimes span two nations. Their methods couldn’t be more different: Kim Seok chases suspects by pushing through crowds, while Inose clings to the case with explosive emotion. One striking shot shows a bloodied, collapsed Kim Seok with Inose looking down at him, which suggests their relationship may not be a simple partnership.

A Mysterious Third Piece

Kim Shin Rock joins the cast as Lee Yoon Ok, a Zainichi Korean businesswoman. A mysterious tiger painting appears in the background of the case, leaving a big question: how are Lee Yoon Ok, the two detectives and the murders connected?

Where and When to Watch?

The Blue Road will have its world premiere in the On Screen section at the Busan International Film Festival, with Han Jun Hee, Son Suk Ku, Nagayama Eita and Kim Shin Rock scheduled to attend.
