Superhero satire fans, this one’s for you. The critically acclaimed 2016 reboot of The Tick — one of the most underrated comic book adaptations ever made — is leaving Amazon Prime Video exclusivity behind and landing on Netflix in select regions this July. Here’s everything you need to know.

The Tick: Overview

Original Creator	Ben Edlund
Lead Cast	Peter Serafinowicz, Griffin Newman
Total Episodes	22 (across 2 seasons)
Distributor	Sony Pictures Television
Netflix Release Date	July 15, 2026

From Amazon Original to Netflix — How Did This Happen?

The Tick debuted on Prime Video back in 2016 with a pilot episode, followed by its first half-season in 2017 and a six-episode continuation in 2018. Despite a full 10-episode renewal, it was canceled in 2019. The cult following it built, however, never really went away.

Here’s the twist most people miss: despite being a Prime Video Original, the 2016 reboot is distributed by Sony Pictures Television — the same studio behind the 2001 Patrick Warburton classic. When the exclusivity window expired, Netflix swooped in. Smart move.

If you love superhero parody, this is right up there with the best comic book adaptations streaming right now. The show’s take on superhero fiction as a genre is both loving and brilliantly sharp.

Who Stars in the 2016 Reboot?

Peter Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead, Guardians of the Galaxy) dons the iconic blue suit as The Tick, while Griffin Newman plays the anxious, unlikely hero Arthur. Together, they anchor all 22 episodes of this critically acclaimed superhero satire — which you’ll be able to binge in one sitting once it lands. whats-on-netflix

Also worth noting: most Netflix licenses run anywhere from six months to two years, so if you’re in a supported region, don’t sleep on this one.
