A Handshake Soaked in Blood: The Apartment Job’s Chilling Turning Point

Some handshakes say more than words ever could. JTBC’s The Apartment Job has released a gripping new still ahead of its third episode, and the tense encounter between Ji Sung and a blood-spattered Park Byung Eun is shaping up to be a genuine turning point in the story.

The Apartment Job- Overview

The Race for a Massive Reserve Fund

Park Hae Kang, a former Oasis Gang boss played by Ji Sung, enters the race for his apartment complex’s resident council presidency with one goal: getting his hands on the building’s 17.8 billion won (roughly $12 million) reserve fund. Along the way, he ends up joining forces with fellow residents to expose corruption running deep within the complex.

A Neighbor’s Violent True Colors

In the second episode, seemingly gentlemanly resident Lee Choong Won, played by Park Byung Eun, stunned viewers by revealing a far more violent side than anyone expected. Now, the newly released stills for episode three show the two men crossing paths alone for the first time. Park Hae Kang extends a cheerful handshake, while Lee Choong Won’s blood-spattered face remains unreadable — a visual that instantly raises questions about what happened, and what comes next.

Why This Scene Matters

The production team described the encounter as a moment where “the two actors’ synergy shines,” teasing a war of nerves between a man fighting to protect someone like a father to him and a man determined to protect his own territory. Ji Sung, known for a string of acclaimed dramas across genres — detailed further on his Wikipedia page — continues to bring layered intensity to a role that blends dark comedy with real menace.
