Thama Teaser to Debut with War 2: Ayushmann Khurrana & Rashmika Mandanna’s Vampire Rom-Com Gets Mega Launch

Bollywood fans are in for a double treat this Independence Day 2025! As Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr. light up the screen with the high-octane War 2, another major cinematic surprise will quietly slip into theaters—a teaser for Thama, a supernatural romantic comedy starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. Backed by Maddock Films and producer Dinesh Vijan, Thama is already generating waves as a unique blend of romance, comedy, and the supernatural, all set to hit screens this Diwali.

A Teaser Strategy That Hits the Bullseye

According to industry insiders, the Thama teaser will be unveiled alongside War 2, capitalizing on the massive footfall expected for the action-packed YRF film. Maddock Films is currently coordinating with cinema exhibitors across India to hard-attach the Thama teaser with War 2 prints, ensuring it reaches a wide audience.

“The exhibitors have agreed in principle, and are excited to showcase the next tentpole film of the universe with an action-packed saga like War 2,” a source close to the production revealed. Interestingly, after its initial debut with War 2, the teaser is expected to be re-attached with another Maddock release, Param Sundari, amplifying the buzz just weeks ahead of its Diwali release.

What is Thama All About?

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thama ventures into uncharted territory for Bollywood. While most of Maddock’s horror-comedy universe (Stree, Bhediya, Roohi) leaned heavily into satire and scares, Thama presents a refreshing twist: it’s a romantic comedy with supernatural elements. Think vampires, but not in a spine-chilling sense—this time, they’re laced with humor and heart.

“Thama is a love story. It’s very different and not a pure horror-comedy,” Sarpotdar said in a previous interview. “It’s a romantic comedy film with certain supernatural elements backing it.” Set against a mysterious yet comical backdrop, Thama is among the first Hindi films to explore vampire mythology with an A-list ensemble.

A Star-Studded Cast Elevates the Hype

With Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna leading the charge, and veteran talents like Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in pivotal roles, Thama boasts a stellar cast that promises both versatility and entertainment. Ayushmann’s knack for offbeat yet commercially viable roles paired with Rashmika’s youthful charm is expected to anchor the film emotionally and comedically.

The casting choice signals Maddock’s intent to blend mass appeal with genre experimentation, a formula they’ve successfully deployed in past projects.

Building a Cinematic Universe with a Bite

Thama is the next chapter in the so-called “Stree World” or Maddock Supernatural Universe. While earlier entries leaned into ghostly folklore, Thama introduces an exciting new element—vampirism—into the cinematic mix. This strategic genre shift not only expands the universe’s scope but also maintains its hallmark mix of comedy, quirky storytelling, and Indian cultural subtext.

Come Diwali 2025, Maddock aims to redefine horror rom-coms again, this time with fangs and flair.

Why Pairing with War 2 Is a Masterstroke

War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr., is poised to dominate the box office during the Independence Day weekend. By attaching Thama’s teaser to one of the year’s most anticipated films, Maddock Films ensures maximum visibility, targeting a diverse cross-section of cinema lovers who enjoy both high-octane action and eccentric comedy.

This teaser drop isn’t just about visibility—it’s about making a statement. Thama is coming, and it’s ready to sink its teeth into the mainstream.
