The OTT Value Surge — Why Rs 160 Crore Makes Sense

The numbers tell a story on their own. From Rs 75 crore for Jailer to a reported Rs 160 crore for the sequel — that’s more than double in just a few years. This reflects both Rajinikanth’s undiminished star power and the growing appetite of streaming platforms for big-ticket Tamil blockbusters. The original Jailer was a massive box office success across languages, and its digital performance on Prime Video only reinforced that appetite.

Shah Rukh Khan was earlier linked to a cameo in Jailer 2, but reportedly declined due to his commitments to King. Jailer 2 also recently generated buzz after a clip from the film was leaked online, with the makers advising audiences not to repost the visuals to avoid potential account restrictions or suspensions.
