Coming home is easy. Earning trust all over again? That’s the real challenge Ted Lasso faces in Season 4 Episode 2, and this time, biscuits with the boss won’t cut it.
Spoilers ahead for “Ted Lasso” Season 4 Episode 2.
What Happens in Ted Lasso Episode 2
Titled “Curiouser and Curiouser,” the episode picks up with Ted freshly resettled in Richmond, now living above the Crown & Anchor pub. He swaps his old Biscuits with the Boss tradition for Kansas City barbecue as he preps to take charge of AFC Richmond’s newly formed women’s team, the Lady Greyhounds — a second-division side that’s been badly under-resourced by the club.
| Storyline | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Ted’s return | Settles back into Richmond life, now coaching the women’s team instead of the men’s |
| Alice Chilton’s frustration | The team’s builder and assistant coach nearly resigns after being passed over for head coach |
| Locker room reality | The women share cramped facilities with the youth academy, including men’s-fit showers and toilets |
| Rebecca’s dilemma | Higgins’ financial report warns the women’s team could hurt Richmond’s finances long-term, but Rebecca chooses to keep backing it |
| Coach Beard’s return | Roy Kent releases Beard from the men’s team so he can reunite with Ted |
Why This Episode Matters
Episode 2 makes a clear statement: announcing support for women’s football is easy, actually funding and respecting it is not. The cramped locker room and Higgins’ grim financial report expose the gap between Richmond’s public enthusiasm and its real investment, while Alice Chilton’s near-resignation gives the season its first real emotional stakes outside of Ted’s personal journey.
By the episode’s end, Ted convinces Alice to stay, and Beard’s surprise return means the Lady Greyhounds finally have their coaching staff locked in — setting up the rest of the season to focus on actually building the team, not just assembling it.

The Bigger Picture
“Ted Lasso” has always used football as a lens for something bigger — belonging, redemption, second chances. Season 4 leans into that by tackling the very real disparities that exist in women’s football, giving Ted a challenge that’s less about winning matches and more about proving the team deserves to exist on equal footing.
New episodes of “Ted Lasso” Season 4 release every Wednesday through October 7 on Apple TV+.
