What ₹999 Realistically Gets You

At ₹999, the Soundex-F9 competes with the boAt Rockerz 450 (₹999–₹1,299) and Boult Audio Z40 (₹799–₹999) — the two most popular headphones in this price tier on Amazon and Flipkart. All three offer roughly 20-hour battery and physical controls. The Soundex-F9’s differentiator is the ENC calling chip, which neither the Rockerz 450 nor the Z40 advertise at this price.

ENC at ₹999 is the spec that makes this product genuinely interesting. At this price, most headphones use a single microphone with no active noise filtering for calls — meaning background noise passes through to the other person. ENC applies signal processing to separate speech from ambient sound, which matters for anyone taking work calls or online classes in a shared space. It’s not the same as ANC (which blocks noise for the listener), but for calls specifically it solves a real problem.

The 14mm drivers are larger than the 10mm–12mm units typically found at this price, which generally correlates with more bass extension — though driver size alone doesn’t determine sound quality. Physical button controls rather than touch controls is the right call at ₹999: touch panels at this price tier are inconsistently reliable and frustrating during workouts.

The one caveat buyers should note: the press release doesn’t mention Bluetooth version, which at ₹999 is likely 5.0 or 5.1. That’s fine for most use cases but worth confirming before purchase if low-latency gaming is a priority.
