India vs England 2025

The 2025 Test series between India and England is set to kick off on June 20th at Headingley, Leeds, marking the start of what is expected to be a fiercely contested series

• 1st Test: June 20-24, 2025 – Headingley, Leeds
• 2nd Test: July 2-6, 2025 – Edgbaston, Birmingham
• 3rd Test: July 10-14, 2025 – Lord’s, London
• 4th Test: July 23-27, 2025 – Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester
• 5th Test: July 31-August 4, 2025 – The Kia Oval, London

Significance of the Series

This series is not just another set of matches; it holds immense significance for both teams. India has not won a Test series in England since 2007, when they secured a historic 1-0 victory under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid. The 2025 series offers India another opportunity to break this long-standing drought and assert its dominance on English soil.

Moreover, this series will be a crucial component of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle, adding even more weight to each match. For India, a strong performance here could be pivotal in their quest for World Test Championship glory.

Players and Potential Captains

As of now, Rohit Sharma is expected to lead Team India, although final squad decisions will be made closer to the series. With a blend of experienced players and emerging talents, India will aim to field a balanced side capable of adapting to England’s challenging conditions.

On the English side, the series will be a litmus test for their famed ‘Bazball’ approach, spearheaded by captain Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum. Despite their recent 4-1 loss to India in India earlier this year, England will look to leverage their home advantage to reclaim dominance.

The venues selected for the series are steeped in cricketing history. From the hallowed turf of Lord’s to the vibrant atmosphere at The Oval, each ground will provide a unique challenge for the players. The inclusion of Headingley and Old Trafford adds further depth, as these grounds have witnessed some of the most dramatic moments in Test cricket history.

The 2025 England tour promises to be one of the most thrilling Test series in recent years, with both teams having much to prove. Whether you’re a die-hard cricket fan or a casual viewer, this is a series that will likely have everyone on the edge of their seats.
