Sharad Kelkar (Srikanth) stars as the series villain, smuggling kingpin Bada Chaudhary.

This is a genuinely exciting ensemble. Emraan Hashmi — who first led a Netflix India series in 2019’s Bard of Blood — makes a compelling return as an uncompromising customs supervisor. Sharad Kelkar as the villain is inspired casting; few actors bring such effortless menace to a screen presence. Learn more about Indian crime thrillers on Wikipedia.

What Is Taskari Web Series About?

Spanning key smuggling corridors across Al-Dera, Addis Ababa, Milan and Bangkok, Taskaree opens up the complex machinery of the international smuggling world — a web built on coded routes, false manifests, and calculated misdirection. At its centre is a specialised customs task force at one of the busiest airports in the country, Mumbai International Airport, led by an uncompromisingly honest team of officers.

Director Neeraj Pandey explains: “Airports are familiar to all of us, yet what unfolds behind the scenes is rarely seen. The world of customs is not something that has been explored on screen, and that was part of the appeal in our endeavour to introduce our audiences to a new unexplored world which is quiet, disciplined, and high-pressure.”

The international scope — four countries, multiple smuggling corridors, one dedicated customs team — gives the show a genuinely cinematic scale. This isn’t just another cop procedural; it’s a globe-spanning thriller grounded in the unglamorous but riveting reality of airport customs work.

The series marks the first collaboration between Pandey and Emraan Hashmi. The  Given both their track records with Netflix India, the combination feels overdue and enormously exciting.
