MobLand Season 3 Renewed at Paramount+: Tom Hardy Returns

Created by Guy Ritchie, the action-drama follows a ruthless British crime family. Following two warring London crime families and a fixer, Harry Da Souza, played by Tom Hardy, who is hired to work for the Harrigans, ten magnificent episodes of power grabbing, ferociously entertaining fight scenes and empire-toppling conflict made up the first season.

MobLand was renewed for a second season last year after logging Paramount+’s second biggest launch for an original series behind Landman.

The Announcement

MobLand has been officially renewed for Season 3 at Paramount+. Paramount+ has confirmed that Tom Hardy will return as crime-family fixer Harry Da Souza, alongside Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren as crime-family patriarch and matriarch Conrad and Maeve Harrigan. Paramount+ made the announcement with the headline: “The Harrigans aren’t going anywhere.”

Season 2 Release Details

The renewal comes just two weeks ahead of MobLand Season 2, which premieres Friday, September 18. New episodes of the 10-episode sophomore run will stream weekly through November 20.

The Behind-the-Scenes Drama

Earlier this year, a behind-the-scenes spat between Hardy, screenwriter Jez Butterworth and producer David Glasser spilled into the public sphere when it was claimed Hardy had been fired from the show.

Tensions were real, with accusations flying in all directions over Hardy’s on-set behavior, Butterworth’s unavailability and Glasser’s no-nonsense stance with actors, though the trio were attempting to solve their creative differences.

Hardy had been clashing with producers, including executive producer Jez Butterworth and others at David Glasser’s 101 Studios. He reportedly refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time during production on Season 2, which spooked producers into rethinking Hardy’s future on the show.

Among the reported sticking points was the show’s increasing emphasis on characters beyond Hardy’s Harry Da Souza.

How the Dispute Was Resolved

Back-channeling efforts led to a meeting in London between Hardy, Butterworth and series executive producer David C. Glasser where they hashed things out, and with executive producer Guy Ritchie also pitching in, Hardy’s return was secured, paving the way to a Season 3 renewal.

The pickup was considered something of a formality after a Season 3 writers’ room opened earlier this year.
