Manchester City have moved quickly and decisively. Manchester City have now agreed an initial agreement to sign Everton star Iliman Ndiaye, who has been linked with a big move for much of the summer. The deal for the 26-year-old attacker is a £65m package and is in the process of being finalised, with a medical expected Tuesday morning.

How the Deal Came Together

The Citizens looked to be closing in on a deal to sign Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, but the Reds rejected their offer of around £80 million, forcing them to turn to Ndiaye.

Tottenham Hotspur also looked close to signing Ndiaye, but with Richarlison refusing to go the other way, the deal stalled. After reportedly being out on Ndiaye, City jumped back into the race and hijacked Tottenham’s deal to sign the 26-year-old winger.

Ndiaye made himself available for a move to Manchester City and is prepared to sign a contract running until 2031. The deal is at paperwork stage before the Senegal international joins Manchester City from Everton. The winger will travel to Manchester for a physical and to finalise the transfer.

Why Manchester City Want Ndiaye

City’s pursuit has intensified following the departures of Savio and Omar Marmoush. His versatility allows him to operate across the frontline, just like Omar Marmoush, who recently left the FA Cup champions to join Spurs.

He has started the current campaign on fire, bagging an assist in Everton’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth. Despite declining various contract offers from Everton last season, Ndiaye’s performance has remained commendable.

Club sources report that he has conducted himself professionally throughout the summer as transfer speculations swirled.

What It Means for Everton

Everton, who signed Ndiaye from Marseille for €18m in 2024, now stand to earn a significant profit on the Senegalese forward. Everton’s valuation remained the biggest obstacle throughout negotiations. The Guardian reported that the Toffees value Ndiaye at around £80m, with City considering him as a replacement after Savinho’s permanent move to Tottenham and Marmoush’s loan departure.

Ndiaye reportedly turned down several contract extension offers from Everton recently.

Man City’s Summer Business: 2026 Window

With Ndiaye now set to arrive as City’s seventh signing of the summer, the Etihad rebuild under Enzo Maresca has been extensive.
