Official: Harvey Elliott Joins Valencia on Loan from Liverpool for 2026-27 Season

A new chapter has begun for one of Liverpool’s most talented midfielders. Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has joined La Liga club Valencia on loan for the rest of the 2026-27 season. The 23-year-old completed the switch to the La Liga club ahead of the closure of the summer transfer window.

Andoni Iraola admitted he preferred different options after leaving Elliott out of his matchday squad for the first two games of the season, with the club instead fielding offers from Spain and Italy. Elliott has been with the Reds since joining from Fulham in 2019, making 149 appearances and scoring 15 goals. He contributed to Premier League title successes in both 2019-20 and 2024-25, alongside medals for the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, League Cup and FA Cup.

Elliott was on loan at Aston Villa during the previous campaign, before returning to Liverpool in the summer. The 23-year-old endured a tough loan spell at Aston Villa last season, when the Premier League outfit kept him frozen on the bench to avoid triggering a clause which would have obliged them to make his move to Villa Park permanent.

Why Valencia?

Valencia finished ninth in La Liga last season and are currently winless and 16th after the first two games this season. Carlos Corberán, who learned under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds, is Valencia’s manager and has grown accustomed to making his teams greater than the sum of their parts after tight budgets at West Brom and Huddersfield.

The midfielder arrived in Valencia before completing the formalities of the transfer and has now officially become part of Carlos Corberán’s squad for the current campaign. Elliott has already made it clear that he is ambitious about his spell at Mestalla and hopes to help the club return to European competition.

This gives him a second chance this season on loan with Valencia in La Liga. The speed of the game and the emphasis on technical quality will suit Elliott, and hopefully see him return to a more recognisable version of himself.
