Subroto Cup 2023: All you need to know about the best tournament for youngsters in India

The 2023 edition of the Subroto Cup is set to be played from 19 September 2023. It will be the 62nd edition of the tournament, and 25 players from the tournament will be given scholarships across the three categories. 

The different categories will be – Junior Girls (U-17) with a total of 33 teams, Sub-Junior Boys (U-14) with 37 teams, and Junior Boys (U-17) with an impressive 39 teams.

The Subroto Cup is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the entire country for young footballers at the school level. It is named after Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee, one of the founding figures of the Indian Air Force. It remains committed to fostering some of the best talents in the country by discovering and helping them from a young age. 

The main Sub Junior Boys tournament will be held in Bangalore this year for the first time. It has traditionally been held in Delhi and Gurgaon since its inception in 1960. And now, it has expanded to the South with Bangalore also set to host the games.

The tournament will be held this year under the AIFF aegis, with the best 11 from the tournament set to gain direct entry into the AIFF Youth League. 

The tournament has become a hotbed for some of the best young talents in the country. The tournament will be available to view live on the SportsCast India YouTube channel.
