Stuart Fails To Save The Universe: The Big Bang Theory Spinoff That Breaks The Multiverse

The Sheldonverse is expanding in the wildest direction yet. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, the fourth series in the Big Bang Theory franchise, is officially set to premiere, and it looks nothing like the sitcom fans grew up with.

When Does Stuart Fails To Save The Universe Premiere?

The 10-episode sci-fi comedy series premieres on HBO Max on July 23, 2026, with a new episode debuting on a weekly basis, airing on Thursdays. Wikipedia

What Is The Show About?

Created by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady, the story centers on comic bookstore owner Stuart Bloom, who accidentally triggers a multiverse Armageddon after breaking a device built by Sheldon and Leonard. Stuart is joined by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and quantum physicist Barry Kripke as they journey through alternate realities, encountering different-universe versions of familiar Big Bang Theory faces along the way. As the title bluntly promises, the mission does not go smoothly.

Lorre has described the tone as a science fiction action-adventure comedy, admitting it pushed him well outside his comfort zone of dialogue-driven sitcoms into unfamiliar visual-effects-heavy territory.

Who’s In The Cast?

Kevin Sussman reprises his role as Stuart, joined by Lauren Lapkus as Denise, Brian Posehn as Bert, and John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke. Recurring guest stars include Ryan Cartwright, Josh Brener, and Tommy Walker, with Wil Wheaton, Christine Baranski, Riki Lindhome, and Teller also expected to appear in alternate-universe roles.

The Big Bang Theory remains one of the most successful sitcoms in television history, spawning multiple spinoffs since its original run ended — read more about the franchise’s legacy on Wikipedia.
