Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 Season 2 — Hawkins Isn’t Done With Us Yet

Just when you thought the Upside Down had settled down, it’s cracking open again. Netflix has confirmed that the animated spinoff Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 returns for Season 2 on September 17, 2026 — and this run is widely expected to be its last.

Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 Season 2: Overview

What Happened Last Season

Season 1 wrapped with the gang defeating the mutated Horde Queen — only for a chilling final-moments twist: a glowing blue stem bursts from her corpse in the Upside Down, blooming into the unmistakable maw of a Demogorgon. Showrunner Eric Robles has confirmed this “flower” kicks off an entirely new mystery for Season 2, hinting at fresh creature hybrids born from luminous green spores that infect anything they touch.

What to Expect in Season 2

The official logline teases a Valentine’s Day storyline where the crew must uncover the truth behind ghostly apparitions and a fresh swarm of strange creatures terrorizing Hawkins. A few other confirmed details:

• Nikki and Mrs. Baxter are staying in Hawkins for good, deepening their role in the group
• Nikki joins the D&D campaign, bringing a custom half-bard, half-berserker character
• Eleven gets more screen time, as Hopper has finally extended her curfew

The series arrives amid a bigger cultural moment — Stranger Things recently marked its 10th anniversary since debuting in July 2016, and Netflix has been celebrating with nostalgia-driven releases, including a VHS special edition of Season 1.
