The Stranger Things season 4 has been wrapped up the filming and is scheduled to come on Netflix in full come Summer 2022. We have come here with the latest updates about the fourth season of Stranger Things. It is going to be a big preview so just put your Eggos into the burner and get ready to dive into Stranger Things season 4.
It seems that the series really needs no introduction as one of the biggest flagships of Netflix first came on Netflix in July 2016. Now the series is mainly focused on the young girl named Eleven who possesses superpowers and also participates with a friendship group In Hawkins, Indiana from where strange things have been indeed going down.
The new show also confirmed season 5, but the disappointing thing is season 5 will be the last and the final season of the series.
Stranger Things (Season 4): Reason behind Splitting of the series
Matt and Ross revealed in a letter that season 4 is going to be a bumper season and therefore dropped in two halves.
Matt and Ross Duffer outlined the reason why they have to break season 4 and the decision to end the show just after season 5.
“Hi nerds! Do you copy?
It’s been a little while.
With nine scripts, over eight hundred pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, Stranger Things 4 was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one. Everyone involved is incredibly proud of the results, and we can’t wait to share them with you.
Given the unprecedented length, and to get it to you as soon as possible, Season 4 will be released in two volumes. Volume One will release on May 27th; Volume Two will release five weeks later on July 1st.
So that’s the good news. It’s coming soon. And it’s bigger than ever.
It’s also the beginning of the end.
Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things. At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but — as you’ll soon see for yourselves — we are now hurtling toward our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last.
There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. But first, we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension known only as of the Upside Down. As always, we are grateful for your patience and support.
Over and out,
Matt and Ross”
Netflix gave such additional information about the fourth season:
“It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends is separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”
After the initial announcement, Netflix has dropped such a teaser with the first dropping in February 2020 titled “ From Russia with Love…”
The second tease also come over a year later in May 2021 with such title “ Eleven, are you listening?”.
The third teaser came as part of Netflix’s TUDUM event named “Creel House”.
At last, the fourth and the final tease was titled “ Welcome to California” and released from Stranger Things by 2021.
Additionally, with all of that teaser, there are also such sneak peek trailer was released in early August 2021 that has been confirmed the series will come in 2022 as mentioned earlier.
Stranger Things (Season 4): Release Date
After such few days of teasing that is leading up to September 30th, 2019 on Netflix finally had become confirmed that Stranger Things would be the retiring of the fourth season. Additionally, Netflix has signed a multi-year deal with The Duffer Brothers. Now the deal is still on top of the one Netflix that has already been with Shawn Levy who is the producer on the show.
It seems that the announcement of season 4 has been accompanied by a video that had the caption: “ We are not in Hawkins anymore”.
Finn Wolfhard first provide the signals in a fan video in April 2021 that the series would not be released in 2021 but instead, it would drop in 2022. After that, Stranger Things season 4 was confirmed to come in Summer 2022. There are also several rumored for the exact while the show will return this summer. There are also some rumors that seem to be that the series will come on 1st July 2022. It is a Friday while traditionally Netflix Original drops happen.
It is reported that in January 2022, rumors were floated that Netflix also would set to release that Netflix would be releasing Stranger Things season 4 monthly. It seems that Netflix quickly swatted things down.
It seems that Noah Schnapp teased in early February 2022 that we also had getting come promotion material that week but the sad thing is, it had not been set to arrive. There are some also speculating and we assume hear about the release date on to the Superbowl on 13th February 2022. Season 2 also got a Super Bowl d so there is precedent.
It has been reported currently that on 17th February we got the official release date for season 4 of Stranger Things along with a batch of new posters.
It seems that Stranger Things 4 Volume 1 premieres on Netflix globally on 27th May and Volume 2 will premiere on 1st July 2022.
Stranger Things (Season 4): Production Status
It is the first time that the production of some series is going to take place outside of Atlanta. It has been learned that the teaser trailer that the team begin Stranger Things had started filming extensively in Vilnius, Lithuania at an unknown date. Along with set with such pictures, Movie web declared that they had wrapped up the shooting at the location in February 2020.
Now the main bulk of the shooting for Stranger Things seasons 4 was mainly supposed to start on January 7th, 2020. We have also learned that the shooting was scheduled for 5th August 2020. It is true that it was put on a hold in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. It has been assumed that the series was just two episodes for shooting before halting the production.
In the middle of June 2020, it was confirmed that the entire script had been finished for the Stranger Things season 4.
Now the Hollywood Reporter just broke the news on 2nd July 20202 that the series has been scheduled the shooting to begin on 17th September 2020, about it was delayed once again on 28th September 2020.
The filming had been started and we have been getting a lot of huge updates along the course of the shooting.
The spoilers of the series are now on Twitter and also have been hot on the heels of catching everything that they can do with the production of Stranger Things season 4.
Steve and Robin are now working at the arcade and there are lots of shootings that have been taken place on location.
It has been known that Stranger Things is mainly heading to New Mexico for season 4. We have got such confirmation in October 2020 that is currently due to happening now in December 2020 courtesy of ProductionWeekly.
On 31st October in the Twitch stream, Gaten Matarazzo has been confirmed that they had already been started the filming of the eighth episode of season 4 and it has given such false hope production was nearing at the end like they seem to film out of order.
Shawn Levy said, “I’ll just say the pandemic definitely massively delayed shooting and therefore the launch of our current Season 4, date still TBD. But it impacted very positively by allowing the Duffer brothers, for the first time ever, to write the entire season before we shoot it and to have time to rewrite in a way that they rarely had before so the quality of theses screenplay is exceptional, maybe better than ever.”
It is just before Christmas 2020, and also it shots of the team filming in the woods with “upside-down” décor that is dominating the pictures.
As the year 2021 is at the end there are some shots of the team filming was mainly due to happen on 2nd January. However, we had not get word until much later that it did not pick up again. There is also a casting call that said that is filming will be ongoing in Atlanta between January 26th and also the end of February 2021.
The shooting of Stranger Things season 4 is still continuing like April 2021 with the continued filming in Atlanta and New Mexico. Now there is a most recent update that we had also was that they were filming just outside of Hawkins High School like 23rd April 2021.
The filming is scheduled to continue into May 2020 as far as new casting calls suggest with more shooting in Atlanta now scheduled for 7th May.
In July 2021, the production was removed to New Mexico. Now the filming has been believed to wrap in August 2021.
Now the filming has been wrapped in early September 2021 according to Noah Schnapp.
Along the trollers, we have also been managed to nab such few screenshots that we also can dissect for the information of season 4.
Shawn Levy has told collider, “I’ll just say the pandemic definitely massively delayed shooting and therefore the launch of our current Season 4, date still TBD. But it impacted very positively by allowing the Duffer brothers, for the first time ever, to write the entire season before we shoot it and to have time to rewrite in a way that they rarely had before so the quality of these screenplays is exceptional, maybe better than ever.”
Stranger Things (Season 4): As the last season
It seems that looking beyond season 4 of Stranger Things is very difficult, mainly as we do not know how the story will wrap up in the next season yet. Shawn Levy has spoken about the future of the show saying, “I mean I will say we have a good sense of stuff that happens in season 4. Season 4 is definitely happening. There’s very much the possibility of a season beyond that one, that’s currently undecided.
And what I would just say is part of the chaos and fun of this particular show is that while the Duffers and the writer’s room and we producers outline the entire season, the Duffers really use the writing process to revisit, reassess and question all of their prior assumptions.
So even though we always start off with a good sense of the major arcs of the season. We’re always ready for shifts and surprises because if the Duffers stumble into a different or surprising inspiration while they rewrite the script, we’re going to follow that inspiration and throw out some ideas in order to embrace some new ones that are more exciting. And I have no doubt that season 3 will be no exception.”
Duffer Brother’s opinion
It has been said that it is still unclear whether or not a fifth season is happening. Now the Duffer Brothers are also uncertain based on where they stand in the fifth season, the Brothers had the following to say,
Ross: “We don’t actually know. I think, you know, four to five seasons is likely where we’ll end up, but who knows? I mean, none of this is official, and we know where we want to go. We’re trying to figure out still how long it’ll take to get there, so we’ll see.”
Matt: “It’s hard like four seems short, five seems long. So I don’t know what to do.”
It is true that there is more for looking forward to from The Duffer Brothers and also indeed Shawn Levy who all exclusively output dealing with Netflix just over the upcoming few years.
Stranger Things (Season 4): Cast
The huge casting question is going into season 4 also was whether David harbor will come or not.
A big thanks to a tweet from Netflix in February 2020. We also now have been confirmed that David harbor will be coming to the roe of Jim Hopper in season 4.
A big thanks to the first trailer, we know that Tom Wlaschiha will be revealed n season 4. We know that he will be appearing in the early sections with season 4 mainly in Russia but we also have heard that he will likely make the way back to Hawkins also.
We also have got such word in April 2020 that Nikola Duricko will be in season 4 also.
In late February 2020, Netflix also confirmed that Priah Ferguson also had been upped to a series regular with the fourth season. She also played the breakout role of Erica Sinclair in season 3.
In June 2020, most of the main cast has been listed to be coming including such five main kids but one with the name notably missing a 2021 day is Dacre Montgomery who also played Billy. The character died in season3 so it’s just not overly surprising.
In July 2020, Agents of SHIELD star Joel Stoffer was declared by ComicBook to have the role of the new season.
The role is set to be small with the actor telling the publication:
“I don’t expect it to become anything like long term, but it’ll be coming up. They contact me and I’ll go to Georgia, to Atlantas, and shoot it when getting back up and running. ‘Cause they’ve been obviously shut down for a while.”
There are such additional casting took place for similar roles in September 2020 with Backstage.com reporting that they are just looking for background actors “aged 18 and older, is wanted to play Russian types, gymnasts, and more”. It has been suggested to us that the Russian’s are also coming to Hawkins.
In this October 2020, we also have learned that Dr. Banner will also return for season 5 of the series. We also have yet to hear the officially so standing by. It seems that in October, reports from the set of Stranger Things season 4 suggest that Levon Thurman-Hawke will also be joining or at least appearing in season 4.
In this November 2020, Netflix has been lifted the lid on to the bunch of such new cast members for the show containing:
This cast of this season is mixed with some returning and also some of the new cast.
It is featuring Robert Englund as Victor Creel, Eduardo Franco as Argyle, Jamie Campbell Bower as Peter Ballard, Sherman Augustus as Lt. Colonel Sullivan, Mason Dye as Jason Carver, Tom Walaschiha as Dmitri, Nikola Djuricko as Yuri, Joseph Quinn as Eddie Munson.
According to the report, we can also see the gang of Kali introduced in season two back as they were spotted on set.
It seems that the final set of casting come at the time of Netflix’s Geeked Week in June 2021. On the third day of the week-long event, we also learned about another batch of castings for season 4.
There are also some new casts like
Amybeth McNulty starring Vickie is a cool, fast-talking band nerd who catches the eye of one of our beloved heroes.
Myles Truitt as Patrick who is a Hawkins basketball star who also has friends, talent, and a good life…until shocking events send his life spiraling out of control.
Regina Ring Chen as Ms. Kelly is a popular guidance counselor who cares deeply for her students –especially those struggling the most.
Grace Van Fien as Chrissy, Hawkins High head cheerleader and the most popular girl in school. But beneath the seemingly perfect surface lies the dark secret.
Stranger Things (Season 4): Episode count
It seems that the fourth season will also be getting such eight episodes as the first and the third seasons. The writer’s room pictures just reveal nine scripts present. On 7th November the writers of the Stranger Things have been announced on the Twitter account the name of the first episode and also writing it.
1. Episode 401 – “ Chapter One: The Hellfire Club”
2. Episode 402- ” Chapter two: Vecna’s Curse”
3. Episode 403 – “ Chapter three:” The Monster and the Superhero”
4. Episode 404 – ” Chapter four: “Dear Billy”
5. Episode 405 – “ Chapter five:” The Nina Project”
6. Episode 406 – “ Chapter six:” The Dive”
7. Episode 407 – “ Chapter seven:” The Massacre At Hawkins Lab”
8. Episode 408 – “ Chapter eight: ”Papa”
9. Episode 409 – “ Chapter Nine:” The Piggyback”
Stranger Things (Season 4): Expectation
Season 3 has just left us with a lot of pondering for the next season, it is expected that some of the reasons will be revealed:
About the American
Now this question has been answered and thanks to the teaser Netflix dropped for Stranger Things season 4. It seems how did Hooper survive? Well, we have never seen the body of Hooper disintegrated by the outburst of power from the Russian machine but left to assume the worst.
Hopper should use the opening in between worlds by the machine to jump from Hawkins to Kamchatka. Alternatively, it may be ended up upside-down to be caught by Russians.
There is also every chance that Hooper could use the machine for making his return journey to the USA. It is suspected that the pet Demogorgon being held by the Russians could have been a part to play the eventual escape of Hopper eventually.
Returning of Byers and Eleven to Hawkins
After such tearful goodbye to their friends and Hawkins, the Byers and Eleven have moved way to pastures new. Mike and Eleven also made things clear that they will be talking to and visiting as like as they can. Mike will go to the Byers place for Thanksgiving, a Eleven will ask Joyce if she can stay at Mike’s for Christmas.
It is hoping that the next season will be based at Christmas, which could give the writers an easy reason to write the characters to be in Hawkins at the same time. The characters like Eleven add Will are critical to the story thanks to their connection to Upside Down.
The coming back of Jonathan’s to Hawkins would coincide with his relationship with Nancy Wheeler. For Joyce, she had likely just tagged to make confirm Will and Eleven are safe.
Returning of Mindflayer
If you think that Mindflayer has been destroyed then you are wrong. The creature seen along the third season was a conduit used by the Mindflayer and not the Mindflayer itself. Having the connection in between the Upside Down and our world shut, the conduit body has been lost its ” signal” to the Mindflayer thus the boy was destroyed but the Mindflayer is safe and sound in the Upside Down and but now he is trapped but he will definitely come back with a vengeance and look likely to enact his revenge on the town of Hawkins after being thwarted twice.
Now show he will be returned is very interesting. The past of the two occasions while he’ is possessed humans have not gone to plan. Arguably it also possesses one of the Russians and also would be a far better option than a teenager from Hawkins.
Russians will tame the Demogorgon or not
The latest reveal at the end of the fourth season was shown to be a Demogorgon had been captured by Russians. At first, it was looked that the Russians had been found a Demodog until it stood on its hind legs and revealed the true form of the creature.
Now the plan of the Russians to tear open the portal to the Upside Down in Kamchatka must have been a success. When the facility in Hawkins was shut down, the Kamchatkan base is still completely functional. It has been given time to perfect the research and the machine may now give the Russians access to Upside Down like while they please.
It is still unclear how they capture the Demogorgon but maybe they have been able to find one of the spawns similar to Dustin’s pet D’Artagnan in the second season. It may give such pause to the reason that the Demodogs are in fact the Juvenile or puppy stage of the Demogorgon.
Now the connection of Dustin to D’Artagnan also provides such reason to believe that the creatures from the Upside Down can create bonds that are maybe small. Now if the Russians raise the particular Demogorgon from birth then maybe they had been able to tame the monster and at least the Demogorgon just like to be fed on to a regular basis and the Russians also can study the creature. The Demogorgon also has the power to go in and out of the Upside Down and leading us to wonder why it willingly would stay into the cage.
Appearing of maximum experiments
In the second season, we have learned that Eleven was not the only experiment for escaping the Department of Energy. Eight was also able to escape and she can make it her mission to take down the people related to the experiments. Eight also exhibit his strength like Eleven. Eight will be cast illusion instead of telekinetic abilities just like eleven, Eight also cast illusions and become invisible along with her illusions and also clairvoyance.
We had not seen any of the further experiments in season 3 but director and executive producer Shawn Levy heavily hinted we could see more in the future:
“I think we’ve clearly implied there are other numbers, and I can’t imagine that the world will only ever know Eleven and Eight”
There are also several cast members and crew who have been speaking about season 4 so we have shared the roundup of what they have been saying.
Hiro Kuda who serves as the stunt coordinator for Stranger Things said the following:
“It’s going to be epic. The lots of great surprises and all your favorite people are in it, it’s going to be so good. It’s so epic. I’ve gotten to read through almost eight scripts now, it’s pretty awesome. I don’t know how many we are going to get.”
David Harbour also teased what’s in store for the Hopper for season 4 saying:
“I know specifically that in Season 4 we will give you a big, huge reveal about Hopper’s backstory”
There are also many other leaks like
1. There are three more teens supposedly join to the main cast
2. Starcourt Mall will return
3. Dr. Brenner has been rumored to still be alive
4. A new house will be cast in the new season
5. Multiple cast members have teased that the fourth season will be darker.
