“StandBIMe”: Korea’s Bold New Bisexual Dating Reality Show Is Rewriting the Rules of Love on Screen — Premieres June 19

Korean reality television has always pushed creative boundaries — but “StandBIMe” is about to do something genuinely unprecedented. Wavve’s upcoming original dating show isn’t just another love competition. It’s a landmark moment for representation in Korean entertainment, and the teaser alone has already sent the internet into a well-deserved frenzy.

What Is “StandBIMe”?

StandBIMe is a dating reality show with a new format that explores various possibilities of love and genuine emotions, transcending gender constraints. The show differentiates itself from existing dating programs by focusing solely on the feelings the cast members have for one another and the possibility of love, regardless of gender.

In a landscape where most dating shows are built around fixed male-female pairings, StandBIMe tears up the rulebook entirely — placing authentic emotional connection at the centre, and letting the heart lead wherever it will.

What Does the Teaser Reveal?

The official poster features three men and women sitting side-by-side, with the women holding hands — hinting at the distinct emotional narrative unique to StandBIMe. In the teaser, participants ask each other “What gender were you expecting?” and set the tone for the season with the line: “Let’s keep our minds open — that’s why we’re here, isn’t it?”

Those two lines capture the entire spirit of the show in a single breath. It’s disarming, honest, and quietly radical.

Why This Show Matters?

Korean pop culture has long been celebrated globally for its emotional depth and creative storytelling — and StandBIMe represents a meaningful step forward in how LGBTQ+ relationships are portrayed in mainstream Korean media. A primetime dating format built around bisexual participants is a genuine cultural milestone for the industry, and the fact that it’s arriving on a major streaming platform signals just how much the conversation in Korea has evolved.
