Rajamouli’s Heartfelt Tribute to Prithviraj
The RRR director couldn’t contain his admiration when unveiling Kumbha’s first look. In a touching note, Rajamouli recalled, “After canning the first shot with Prithvi, I walked up to him and said, you are one of the finest actors I’ve ever known. Bringing life to this sinister, ruthless, powerful antagonist KUMBHA was creatively very satisfying.”
This high praise from the man behind blockbusters like Baahubali and RRR speaks volumes about Prithviraj’s performance. The character Kumbha is positioned as a vicious supervillain and the primary antagonist—setting the stage for an epic clash with Mahesh Babu’s rugged explorer character.
What We Know About SSMB29
While official plot details remain under wraps, reports suggest SSMB29 will be a globe-trotting jungle adventure inspired by Indiana Jones and African folklore. Mahesh Babu is rumored to portray a rugged explorer navigating treacherous terrains, with Kumbha serving as his formidable nemesis.
The movie will begin production throughout 2026, with a theatrical release targeted for 2027. With Rajamouli at the helm, expectations are sky-high for another visual spectacle that could rival his previous pan-Indian blockbusters.

The much-awaited title reveal event is scheduled for November 15, 2025, at 6 PM in Hyderabad. Fans worldwide can watch the live stream on JioHotstar, where the official title and potentially more character reveals are expected.
The makers recently confirmed the star-studded cast through playful social media banter between Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli, building massive anticipation for what could be the biggest Indian film of 2027.
Prithviraj’s Upcoming Projects
Beyond SSMB29, Prithviraj has an exciting lineup. His intense action drama Vilaayath Budha releases November 21, 2025. He’s also filming I, Nobody and has Khalifa (directed by Vysakh) slated for Onam 2026.
With SSMB29, Prithviraj joins the elite league of actors who’ve worked with Rajamouli, cementing his status as one of Indian cinema’s finest performers.
