Sony has announced it will soon begin selling refurbished PlayStation 5 (PS5) consoles at a fraction of the cost of its newly revealed PS5 Pro. Through PlayStation Direct, Sony’s official online store, gamers can snag a Certified Refurbished PS5 Digital Edition for $349.99—a price that’s half of the $699.99 tag for the PS5 Pro.

Refurbished PS5: A More Affordable Gaming Option

With the recent unveiling of the PS5 Pro, priced at $699.99, Sony is offering a budget-friendly alternative in the form of its refurbished PS5 models. For those looking for the disc drive version, the refurbished model will be available for $399.99, making it $100 cheaper than its brand-new counterpart.

Sony’s decision to offer refurbished consoles at such competitive pricing comes as no surprise, especially given the premium cost of the PS5 Pro, which lacks a disc drive and vertical stand—the latter of which costs an additional $105 for those who prefer to stand their console upright.

Certified Refurbished PS5: Quality You Can Trust

Sony assures customers that every Certified Refurbished PS5 undergoes a thorough recertification process. This includes comprehensive testing to ensure the refurbished products meet the same functional standards as new PS5 consoles. As Sony states, “Your certified refurbished product works like new,” offering peace of mind for buyers who may be hesitant about purchasing refurbished electronics.

Why Choose Refurbished?

For gamers seeking the power of a PS5 without breaking the bank, the refurbished PS5 offers an excellent solution. It provides the same next-gen performance at a significantly lower price point, giving players access to 4K gaming, ultra-fast load times, and an extensive library of PS5 titles.

PS5 Pro: A Step-Up for Hardcore Gamers

The PS5 Pro, set to launch on November 7, 2024, comes packed with advanced features, including 67% more compute units and 28% faster memory than the current PS5 model. With these enhancements, the PS5 Pro delivers up to 45% faster rendering, offering a smoother, more immersive gaming experience.

Additionally, the ray tracing capabilities have been upgraded, allowing for double and even triple the ray tracing speeds of the original PS5. The new PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology uses AI-based upscaling to provide crystal-clear visuals, ensuring sharper image quality by adding extra detail.

Conclusion: Great Deals for Every Gamer

With the launch of the PS5 Pro and the refurbished PS5 options, Sony is catering to a wide range of gamers. Whether you’re looking for the cutting-edge performance of the PS5 Pro or a more budget-friendly option with the Certified Refurbished PS5, there’s a deal to fit every gamer’s needs.
