Song Kang & Lee Jun Young Went Deep Into Piano Training for tvN’s Four Hands — See Their Preparation Journey

When a K-drama promises to dive into the world of classical music, the cast doesn’t fake it. tvN’s upcoming music drama Four Hands just revealed its first script reading, and the preparation these actors went through is absolutely impressive — straight from the horse’s mouth.

What Is Four Hands?

Four Hands is a piano term that refers to a technique where two people play a single piano together. The drama will depict the friendship, love, rivalry, and growth of youths who meet at an arts high school, following their journey from adolescence to adulthood as professional pianists. soompi

It’s Itaewon Class meets Your Name Engraved Herein — a deep character study wrapped around music, ambition, and the cost of perfection.

Meet the Cast: Three Leading Talents

Song Kang plays piano prodigy Kang Bi Oh, a perfectionist with classy looks who never misses the top spot in both grades and piano skills. Despite his innate talent, he possesses the diligence to never slack off in practice.

Lee Jun Young takes on the rival role — Choi Jeong Yo, a fellow piano genius whose harsh upbringing has made him spend his life turning away from his own talent. When he suddenly appears at Korea Arts High School, he reconnects with the prodigy who greatly influenced him.

Jang Gyuri plays Hong Jae In, a viola major with exceptionally sensitive hearing. Gifted with outstanding musical instincts, she searches for music that truly satisfies her ears — and Kang Bi Oh’s music is the one constant.

How Did They Prepare?

This is where the magic happens. In the accompanying script reading video, the cast members shared their preparation process, which included taking piano lessons, listening to classical pieces, and mentally studying performance styles and “image-making” for their roles.

It’s the kind of commitment that transforms an actor into a character — something classical music itself demands. These aren’t cosmetic details either; when you’re portraying musicians, the authenticity matters.
