Song Kang Ditches His Usual Roles To Become K-Drama’s Next Piano Prodigy

Song Kang is trading his signature charm for sheet music and sleepless practice nights. The actor’s next project, Four Hands, Two Sonatas, has just dropped new stills, and fans are already calling it his most intense transformation yet.

The title itself is a nod to piano four hands, a classical technique where two pianists share a single keyboard — a fitting metaphor for a story built on rivalry, friendship, and shared ambition.

What’s The Story About?

Set in an elite arts high school, the drama follows a group of young pianists as they grow from teenagers into professionals, navigating love, competition, and the slow burn of chasing perfection. Song Kang plays Kang Bi Oh, a 17-year-old prodigy tipped to lead Korea’s classical music scene — except he’s never once heard his grandfather, a legendary conductor, say he’s proud of him.

Everything changes when transfer student Choi Jeong Yo (Lee Jun Young) walks in and effortlessly outplays him, cracking open a world Kang Bi Oh never knew existed.

The Detail Fans Can’t Stop Talking About

The new stills reveal Kang Bi Oh’s practice journal — 9 hours and 30 minutes logged in a single day, followed by a brutally honest note to himself: the cadenza still isn’t good enough. It’s a small detail, but it says everything about a character who treats “good” as the enemy of “perfect.”
