A detailed specs sheet for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 leaked a couple of weeks back with particulars of what improvements could be expected from this chipset when it launches officially. As we get closer to the unveiling of the company’s next flagship SoC, a new rumor has emerged providing a look at Qualcomm’s component placement diagram for the new silicon, as well as several supported technologies. It seems we won’t have to wait long for the official reveal, going by how much has already been spilled.

Leaks About the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

When we covered the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 specifications previously, two versions were mentioned to be arriving: ‘SM8750′ and ‘SM8750P’, the latter as a Wi-Fi-only model. New photos shared by Jukanlosreve and reposted by Baidu user ‘SalothSar’, also seem to confirm that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will have two variants, unfortunately only the SM8750 supports mmWave 5G and sub-6GHz bands. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to utilize the older LPDDR5X standard.

We had already heard a rumor that Qualcomm‘s newest chipset would pair with LPDDR6 RAM, yet the spec sheet claims quite a different outcome. It will also provide UFS 4.0 storage with two PCIe lanes to read speeds up to 450MB/s and writing speeds up to 4000 MB/s. Still, this performance is a smidgen below the Gen 4 protocol relative to the NVMe standard, so it’s not going to really bottleneck anything on users.

The Adreno 830 GPU is reported to handle internal panel resolutions of up to 3,840 x 2,560 at a 144Hz refresh rate, which surpasses 4K resolution. But whether a Qualcomm display with that level of pixel density makes it into phones is up to the company’s phone partners.

The same Baidu thread mentioning the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 specifications and component layout also claimed that the core features have not seen many adjustments over the existing Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Nevertheless, we believe the custom Oryon CPU cores will provide more than just incremental improvements in single-core and multi-core performance, as evidenced by earlier Geekbench 6 benchmark results from the OnePlus 13.
