The much-anticipated Sky Force trailer has been released, offering a gripping glimpse into India’s first and deadliest airstrike. Directed by Sandeep Kelwani and Abhishek Kapur, the film stars Akshay Kumar in a pivotal role, with debutant Veer Pahariya and Sara Ali Khan also featuring prominently.
The over three-minute-long trailer showcases intense aerial combat sequences, emotional depth, and a strong sense of patriotism. Released by Maddock Films on Sunday, it has sparked mixed reactions online, with praise for the performances and storyline, but some criticism regarding visual effects.
A Story Rooted in Valor
The Sky Force trailer begins with Akshay Kumar portraying a determined Indian Air Force (IAF) officer ready to avenge the loss of fallen soldiers. Amidst resistance from his seniors, who emphasize India’s peace-loving identity, Akshay’s character responds with a powerful statement.
He says, “Doosra gaal neta dikhate hai, hum fauji nahi” (Another cheek is extended by political leaders, not soldiers). This dialogue encapsulates the grit and resilience of soldiers as protectors of the nation.
Veer Pahariya’s Promising Debut
The Sky Force trailer also introduces Veer Pahariya, marking his debut in Bollywood as a fellow IAF officer. Veer’s character joins forces with Akshay Kumar to lead a high-stakes mission against the adversaries.
However, as the mission progresses, Veer’s aircraft is hit, leaving him “missing in action.” This subplot adds an emotional depth, especially as Sara Ali Khan, portraying Veer’s wife, anxiously awaits news of her husband. Nimrat Kaur’s role further enhances the narrative’s intensity.
Patriotic Fervor Ignites Fans
Fans have embraced the Sky Force trailer with enthusiasm, hailing Akshay Kumar’s return to patriotic cinema. Social media was flooded with reactions such as, “Legend Akshay Kumar in action, in comedy, in drama, in patriotic,” and “Akshay Kumar in patriotic movies just gives goosebumps.”
Another admirer praised him as “A man with a diamond heart.” The palpable excitement highlights the audience’s eagerness for this cinematic spectacle.
A Republic Day Release with a Message
Akshay Kumar shared the Sky Force trailer on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “This Republic Day, witness the untold story of a heroic sacrifice – the tale of India’s first and deadliest airstrike. Mission #SkyForce – In Cinemas 24th January 2025.” The release date strategically aligns with Republic Day, amplifying the film’s patriotic undertone.
