It has been reported that Netflix is extending the long-term partnership with Jose Padilha after the last show Narcos and Narcos: Mexico. Netflix has come with a new action film called Sharp. It is going to be a big-scale project as Netflix has been scaled for a huge seven-figure deal with Padilha on the script and also trying to reveal a new action figure franchise with this upcoming film.
This upcoming Netflix action film is directed by Padilha who is well known for his previous directory of some action films like Elite Squad, 7 Days in Entebbe, and RoboCop also with some Netflix episodes of Narcos and he is also working on Warrior’s Way. One of his films Elite Squad 2 is still the top-grossing Brazillian movie of all time. The script of this movie is written by Padilha and also actress Nicolette Noble who is also credit for Pretty Gritty. The producer Greg Silverman of Stampede also commented on this big-scale project. He said that if we consider ourselves as an action fan and not seen Elite Squad 1 & 2, then we needed to reevaluate our freedom.
There is no doubt that Jose Padilha is still a simply most dynamic, groundbreaking, and also well-known action director today. It is a great thing that he and Nicolette have come together as partners for this big franchise.
John Wick and Sicario producer Taylor Zea also will be watching this Netflix project.
Plot
The story of this film is based on a team of six knife-wielding assassins who went wrong after a global synchronization. They are now forced to work together to rescue themselves and also find who has betrayed them.
Padilha and Noble depict that they have read over 20 books on blades of some different types, culture, before writing the script of Sharp. They said that it boiled down to this: gunfights were often anonymous that one can shoot someone from a distance. They told that fighting with the knife is also intimate, up close, and personal.
Cast
The team of Sharp does not expose any name of the cast members for Netflix’s film. It is expected that Nicolette Noble will also be featuring in this film as she is an actress as well, but it is not clear, it remains to be watched.
Production Status
Netflix’s upcoming action film is recently on active development and also the dates of filming will become known to us in coming months.
Release Date
It is expected that the production of the film will start in the second half of 2021, if all things remain good then it is expected that Sharp will hit on Netflix in late 2022 or 2023.
