Sergio Ramos’ summer departure has been approved by PSG

Sergio Ramos has reportedly been informed by Paris Saint-Germain that he would not be a part of the club’s plans for next season. His current contract with PSG runs until 2023, but the French club is willing to part ways with him this summer.

The 36-year-old has been notified of this news by the club’s management, according to Le Parisien, and it is due to the multiple ailments that have kept him out for much of this season.

Sergio Ramos and PSG

Despite this, Sergio Ramos intends to stay at the Parc des Princes this summer and compete for his spot. His injury record this season has been a major disappointment for the club, with the Spaniard failing to make a single appearance in the Champions League.

Given that he was brought in to lead PSG to Champions League triumph, this has irritated the Parisian club even more. Despite PSG’s determination to part ways with Ramos this summer, they will confront a major challenge in the form of a dearth of offers for Spain’s all-time appearance record holder.

His Pans for the Future

The 36-year-old made the sensational headline move from Real Madrid to PSG last summer, but injuries have hampered his progress. The Spain great has only made six games in Ligue 1, only three of which have been in the starting XI, and he has already been sent off in one of them.

Sergio Ramos has made only one appearance for the Parisiens in the Champions League, sitting on the bench against Manchester City in the group stage but not taking the field.

Ramos said: “I would like to play between four and five more years at the top level and then live another experience.”

Ramos has recently regained health, making his first Ligue 1 start since January in a 6-1 triumph over Clermont last week. PSG leads Ligue 1 by 12 points, so despite his physical difficulties, Ramos is on track to win the league trophy in his first season in France.
