Sergio Ramos recently look to Instagram to point out an interesting fact. The Spanish centre-back shared a post showing he has scored more goals than several top midfielders of his generation. They included former Real Madrid teammates Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta and Juventus and AC Milan’s Andrea Pirlo.

The 38-year-old has scored 140 goals in his career for club and country, with 117 for Sevilla, PSG and Real Madrid and 23 for Spain. Only 32 of them have been from penalties.

Sergio Ramos reveals interesting scoring feat – more than 4 elite midfielders

Kroos has scored 100 goals in his career, and is set to retire at the end of the 23/24 season. Modric has scored 109 while Iniesta has 107 to his name. Pirlo is a bit behind the rest, with 86 to his name.

Even if you subtract the penalties, Ramos has 108 goals in his career, which is remarkable for a central defender. In spite of his age, the veteran continues to be in top shape, having played 37 games for Sevilla this season, totalling 3,300 minutes, and scoring seven goals across all competitions.

With his deal expiring at the end of the season, Ramos has been linked with a move to San Diego FC, which would end his illustrious European career.
