Sergio Ramos – Real Madrid contract talks on hold

Contract negotiations between Real Madrid and club captain Sergio Ramos are negotiations stuck and in standby. There is currently no agreement between the two parties regarding an extension of his current deal that expires at the end of the season.

Ramos has been consistent with his demands and has communicated those well to the club; he wants two years with the same salary. They offer him something different, and he is not happy about how things are going. Moreover, the club’s attitude in the negotiations is not doing any favours towards convincing the Spaniard to extend his stay.

Speaking on the Here We Go podcast on Patreon, Fabrizio Romano mentioned that his situation would be clearer in one month. Florentino Perez will be a big factor and have a chance to change his mind with individual involvement in contract talks with arguably their most loyal player over the last decade.

Ramos joined the club in 2005 from Sevilla for €27 million and has been with them ever since. The Spaniard turns 35 at the end of March and has been demanding a two-year contract extension, which will see him receive the same salary that he is on right now. However, Madrid is reportedly only willing to offer him a single year more, given that he will be 36 at the end of the next season.
