Sea of Thieves has been played by over 25 million people. The water in the pirate ship fantasy sim is some of the most magnificent you’ve ever seen in a computer game. And soon, Rare’s live-service multiplayer game will be able to be played solo.
Beginning in December, a new mode called Safer Seas will allow players to explore Sea of Thieves in private sessions without the threat of PvP.
Competitive Questing: In this mode, Players will compete to collect Skull of Siren Song artifact components, with the artefacts cursing the ships they’re on and broadcasting their locations throughout the seas.
Safer Seas: You can play Sea of Thieves alone or with companions in a session without competitive players, with a maximum rank of 40 and lower payouts due to the reduced danger.
The Safer Seas mode, in particular, might be a game changer. Despite its large player base, Sea of Thieves has a high learning curve and an overwhelming level of coordination, which is exacerbated by the ever-present threat of PvP. Safe Seas not only eliminates that risk, but it also allows lone gamers to explore its wide and gorgeous landscape without the social anxiety or awkwardness of bumping into other people.
