Meet Velma and Shaggy
Abby Ryder Fortson steps into the iconic orange turtleneck as Velma Dinkley — the brainiac heart of Mystery Inc. Marvel fans will recognise her as the original young Cassie Lang from the first two Ant-Man films, but her breakout role in Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret proved she can carry genuine emotional depth in coming-of-age stories. That warmth and intelligence makes her a genuinely thrilling Velma pick.
Playing the perpetually hungry, perpetually terrified Norville “Shaggy” Rogers is rising star Tanner Hagen, best known from Lawmen: Bass Reeves and The Pitt. Shaggy is one of pop culture’s most beloved comedic characters, and Hagen’s range suggests he can nail both the laughs and the heart that makes Shaggy so enduring.
What’s Scooby-Doo Story?
Set during the gang’s last summer at camp, the mystery kicks off when Shaggy and Daphne encounter a lost Great Dane puppy — the future Scooby-Doo — potentially connected to a supernatural murder. They team up with Velma, the most logical mind in town, and Freddy, the strange-but-handsome new kid, to investigate a case that threatens to expose each of their deepest secrets and ultimately forge the legendary bond of Mystery Inc.
It’s an origin story with darker undertones, executive produced by Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter via Berlanti Productions under Warner Bros. Television.
Scooby-Doo first debuted as an animated television series in 1969 and has since become one of the most recognisable entertainment franchises in history, spanning animation, live-action films, and merchandise across generations.
